Matt Newland
Managing Director, Design and Sales
Matt studied engineering at Cambridge University and went on to work for a large US based management consultancy for several years after. A realisation that life was not only about money led him to a job with Tony Castro Yacht Design, and then on to join Swallow Yachts which his father had founded some years earlier. At that time Swallow Boats were renowned for their kit boats, supplied flat pack for owners to complete themselves. Changing customer trends and a domestic market that was too small to be viable, led Matt to change the focus of the business. The company gradually developed a range of dayboats and small yachts, moving into new purpose built premises in 2008 and expanding again in 2014. Further growth of the business and size of yachts led to the company being rebranded Swallow Yachts in summer 2015. Matt is married to Ana, they have three children whom he is desperately trying not to force into sailing.
